In the fall of 2007, I started a weekly computer club that ran in conjunction with the after school program at Woodgreen Community Services in Toronto. The club was open to any kids from the local area. Most of the kids were around 8-10 years old.
We worked with Scratch which is a fun, easy to learn programming environment. The younger kids played with drawing characters, making them walk across the screen and having them speak. With some of the older kids I was able to dig a little deeper into the programming side of things and explore having a sprite interact with another sprite and drawing shapes programatically.
