New Media Developer - Art Gallery of Ontario | 2000-2007

I worked at the Art Gallery of Ontario as the New Developer and Programmer. I was responsible for the coding, backend development and maintenance of the public website and intranet and other projects.

During 2001 I was part of a team which redesigned the public site and which won the Ontario Association of Art Galleries best website. I created the backend programming in ColdFusion for the calendar and data exchange scripts exporting information to Flash and the templating system. The site also received special mention on the Macromedia site for the work I contributed.

I created popular sections of the site including the Permanent Collection, AGO postcards, contests, exhibition study guides and other interactive learning components. I also designed and built several kiosks and a projection system for the Group of Seven show.

I migrated the intranet to a new setup using a Python/Django based CMS handling internal news stories, employment listings, RSS feeds, polls and discussion forums. I trained a small team of non-technical editors to submit stories via the CMS. Utilized industry-proven open source software to provide stable solutions on a minimal budget, including AGO mailing lists and a new search engine.
